Epic Games reportedly offered Sony $200 million for "4-6" PC versions of PlayStation exclusives - esquivelhavery
The on-going Epic vs Apple trial has thrown up some more provocative bits of information, with the latest exhibit—apparently released to the public circumstantially—on the face of it indicating that Epic poem were disposed to fund Sony $200 million USD to get some first party PlayStation Studios titles as exclusives happening the Epic Game Store on PC.
According to PC Gamer, who tainted screenshots of the since-removed documents posted on Resetera, Epical Games were willing to offer Sony the figure American Samoa a "minimum insure" for "4-6" first party titles, although it's unclear if this offer was on a per-style basis, OR whether this was a lump tally for all of them and was awaiting a answer. On that point's no word on which games were possibly dormy as part of the deal, but as Microcomputer Gamer also notes, entirely cardinal PlayStation exclusive titles have successful it to the Epic Game Store in so far:Predator Hunting Grounds andReadySet Heroes.
The documents, as have most of those overlapping the trial thus far, are likely from around 2018 andPredator: Hunt Groundshas since made its way to Steam clean after a class of exclusivity. Other PlayStation to PC releases since 2018 have includedSkyline Zero Dawning andDeath Stranding last year and next hebdomad's loose of Days Gone, all of which are launching on Steam; so it surely appears every bit if the deal wasn't taken ultimately, but it's certainly interesting to tone what Epic were volition to pay to get PlayStation exclusives on the PC.
On that point's been no word from Sony or Epic how accurate these reports are — and with the Apple vs Verse form grammatical case currently ongoing, not to mention the sensitive financial nature of the reports, it doesn't look into likely we'll get one some time soon. Still, PlayStation have previously committed to bringing more exclusives to the PC in the near future, so we can at least continue to speculate which titles wish make the jump off next.
